Mouser Electronics is now stocking Cypress Semiconductor's EZ-PDTM CCG3PA USB Type-C and Power Delivery (PD) controllers. The CCG3PA controller is the industry's first Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 certified controller to support fast charging of smartphones, tablets, laptops and charging treasures. The Cypress EZ-PD CCG3PA controller from Mouser Electronics supports USB-C power supplies and dual-purpose power/power devices. In addition, the controller fully supports the USB PD 3.0 Programmable Power Supply (PPS) specification, allowing the smartphone to communicate with the charger to determine the desired voltage and current values. The controller is certified for Quick Charge 4 and its security features have been enhanced to ensure that it does not overheat when charging quickly.

The programmable CCG3PA controller includes the Arm® Cortex®-M0 microcontroller and 64 KB of flash memory, which is synchronized with the evolving fast charging standard through firmware upgrades. This single-chip device integrates several of the necessary components, including 30V regulators, high-voltage PFET gate drivers, VBUS-CC short-circuit protection, VBUS and current sense amplifiers, and dedicated hardware for traditional charger protocols. This advanced integration of the CCG3PA controller minimizes the material costs involved in USB-C power product development.

The Cypress CCG3PA controller features system-level electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection with dedicated overcurrent and overvoltage protection circuitry.
